Phil Jones is founder and chairman of PJA, the leading independent transport planning, engineering and placemaking consultancy with offices in the UK and Australia.
Phil has over 35 years’ experience in the planning and design of transport infrastructure. He specialises in achieving synergy between street and urban design, with the aim of creating places that are aesthetically pleasing, socially accessible and pragmatically functional.
In the last few years Phil has focused on active travel and has co-authored numerous government documents promoting good placemaking, active travel infrastructure and low speed environments.
These include Local Transport Note 1/20: Cycle Infrastructure Design, which the UK government launched in July 2020, and the reports of the 20mph Speed Limit and Pavement Parking Task Forces for Welsh Government.
